LeAnn Rimes has been named as the most recent recipient of the ASCAP Golden Observe Award. Tying in with the accolade, he singer-songwriter will take part in a presentation and interview for ASCAP Expertise 2022 that can be webcast on the performing rights group’s YouTube channel Oct. 12.
The lifetime achievement award is given by ASCAP to “genre-spanning songwriters, composers and artists who’ve achieved extraordinary profession milestones.” Rimes follows within the footsteps of earlier recipients which have included Tom Petty, Alicia Keys, Garth Brooks, Blondie, Duran Duran, Alan Jackson, Lauryn Hill, Lionel Richie, Lee Ann Womack, JD Souther and Greg Kurstin.
The video presentation will embody testimonials and tributes from Reba McEntire, Diane Warren, Mickey Guyton, Rob Thomas, the San Francisco Homosexual Males’s Choir, David Grey and Aloe Blacc, and an award presentation by ASCAP’s chairman-president, famed songwriter Paul Williams. These segments can be adopted by an interview with Rimes carried out by Selection’s Chris Willman.
Says ASCAP’s Williams, “From the second we first heard her immortal recording of ‘Blue’ – again when she was simply 13 years outdated – we knew that LeAnn was a voice for the ages.
